We use CosMedix skin care products for all skin types and problems. The formulas for daily use are anti-aging and will improve any skin problem. The natural chemical peels will take years off your skin with virtually no risk of side-effects such as hyperpigmentation (brown spots), and there is minimal downtime. CosMedix is a pure plant-based line without preservatives, artificial colors, or artificial fragrances. In our treatment protocols we use different cleansers, toners, moisturizes, anti-oxidant serums, masks, and sun blocks tailored to all conditions from young problem skin to mature, aging and sun-damaged skin. These products are chirally correct, meaning the products have been purified to their most natural state for the best absorption and least skin irritation, unlike non-chirally correct ingredients. With the chirality and pure ingredients high in anti-oxidants, CosMedix has the most active ingredients of any product on the market. They have no fillers or waxes, no sodium lauryl sulfate, no propylene glycol, and no parabens which are harmful and irritating. Even the most sensitive skin can handle these products.
Dr. Cole treats many skin conditions including acne, rosacea, dermatitis, psoriasis, skin lesions, warts, unwanted moles, etc. Besides using the CosMedix products and chemical peels, he can treat with black salve, liquid nitrogen, clay, and herbs. With many skin problems, the digestion and elimination must be addressed. Hormone imbalances are also examined with acne.

A DIFFERENT PHILOSOPHY FOR CHEMICAL PEELS
Free radical damage is a major contributor to many diseases. Free radicals are one of the causes of aging, wrinkles and skin pigmentation (brown spots). A youthful skin can result when free radicals are avoided using antioxidants, sun blocks, or even reducing any irritants that damage our skin. Our body needs a certain amount of free radical formation to maintain its everyday functions. It is excess free radical formation, an amount more than what the body is able to repair, that results in the deterioration and wrinkling of the skin. Sunlight, chemicals, pollution, cigarette smoking (all free radical generators), and poor nutrition damage the collagen and elastin that give our skin a smooth elastic appearance.
Chemical peels generate numerous excessive free radicals which can damage the skin. The result of chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and other aggressive skin treatments is the creation of a massive "free radical cascade" which stimulates cell turnover. But is it healthier skin? Whenever strong irritants such as acids, particularly lower pH acids, are placed on the skin they result in massive trauma. Trauma means free radical production, which means cell death. With cell death, new cell growth is stimulated, yet many young skin cells can be destroyed in the process. Unfortunately, the frequent result is a thick layer of brown dying tissue that skin care professionals and clients have grown to accept as "normal" recovery from strong unnatural irritant chemical peels. One of the side effects of this massive inflammation and free radical production is the stimulation of melanocytes (pigment cells). This can result in post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (excess pigment or darkened areas), a side effect from the inability of our overwhelmed skin to repair the damage. Another result can be scar tissue formation and/or hypopigmentation (lack of pigment creating lighter skin areas).
This aggressive approach can carry over into many of the activities of today's skin care professionals. Microdermabrasion, controversial in its own right, has commonly been used in conjunction with typical chemical peels. First, free radicals are created by microdermabrasion, then chemical agents (with a "fast track" to the deeper epidermis/dermis) are placed on this "denuded" skin resulting in a second round of inflammation. This can be very problematic. This is why we ask you to stop retinoic acid days before other treatments. Retinoic acid results in inflammation/free radicals and undesirable results have occurred when we try to add "insult to injury" without allowing the body a few days to repair itself.
Is there an answer? Yes. There are now chemical peeling agents by CosMedix that penetrate more slowly, cause less trauma but still provide a strong stimulus to the basal membrane of the skin so that a significant peel occurs. The added benefit, besides a healthier environment for the young skin cells, is minimal pain, avoidance of that oozing, brown, dying skin layer, and a significantly reduced risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and scarring.
Chiral correction used in CosMedix peels is a process by which ingredients are purified to their most natural state. The philosophy is that in this state, they are better recognized by the body and thus function better at the cellular level. One of these ingredients is L- Retinol A™. This is a chirally corrected version of retinol that converts to retinoic acid at the basal membrane and as a result is far less irritating when applied topically. The other ingredients are chirally corrected acids; L-lactate, L-TCA, and L-ascorbic acid. L-ascorbic acid (recently recognized as a more effective form of ascorbic acid), simply put, is chirally corrected ascorbic acid. This means less pain and inflammation, less free radical production, and increased efficiency.
With CosMedix you can reduce the risk and discomfort associated with most peels while regenerating the skin and protecting it with high quality antioxidants and pure sun protection formulas. These natural products provide the best peel and create incredible results with very little discomfort or skin irritation, giving you healthy, youthful skin.
